Great gesture from Mourinho – Bettips News

After the final whistle of the Champions League final between BVB and Real Madrid, Edin Terzic is consoled by José Mourinho. However, the Dortmund coach does not reveal the exact content of the conversation.

A great gesture from José Mourinho. The Portuguese star coach went to BVB coach Edin Terzic a few minutes after the final whistle of the Champions League final to console him. The two hugged for a few seconds and “The Special One” talked to Terzic.

“They were very nice and important words for me,” Terzic said on DAZN about the encounter with Mourinho, who acted as a TV expert at the final. The BVB coach, whose team lost the final 2-0 to Real Madrid, also praised his coaching colleague as one of the greatest coaches who has experienced everything.

“We have known each other for a while now, from our time in England,” Terzic explained the connection and emphasized: “It shows what a great personality he is, how empathetic he was.”

Mourinho’s message to Terzic

However, the Dortmund coach did not want to reveal what exactly Mourinho said in his ear. “The words he chose are for me.”

Speaking to TNT Sports, Mourinho said he encouraged Terzic to be “very proud of the work” he did: “Because it was incredible and as a coach you couldn’t have done more.”

At the same time, the Portuguese prepared Terzic for a harsh reality: “Time will not help you, it will always be hard for you, for the rest of your career, for the rest of your life.” Mourinho himself had won both of his finals in the Champions League but had also had to endure a few setbacks in his long career.

Dortmund’s approach against Real was “fantastic”: “They were brave, differentiated well when to press high and when to position the block deeper.”

“He won’t forget it”

Terzic’s team “did everything well, just didn’t score.” The coach “couldn’t get the ball into the net. The coach can organize, create a mentality, can give conviction – and he did all of that. (…) As a coach, he has to be proud, but he won’t forget it.”

Terzic was assistant coach under Slaven Bilic at West Ham United between 2015 and 2017. Mourinho was on the sidelines for Chelsea and Manchester United at the time. On Saturday evening it was also announced that Mourinho will be the coach of Fenerbahce Istanbul for the new season.

In addition to their time in England, the two coaches also have another parallel: Both were 41 years old when they contested their first Champions League final as coaches. Mourinho won his final in 2004 with FC Porto, but the 61-year-old also won the trophy with Inter Milan in 2010 (winning the final against FC Bayern).
