Sevilla has delayed the return to training this Tuesday at seven in the afternoon (it was scheduled at 10:30 am) without having yet officially closed the replacement of Mendilibar after the dismissal that was communicated to him last Sunday. And that session can be directed by the Uruguayan Diego Alonso, the name that Victor Orta has proposed in the last hours after receiving several refusals from other coaches and that has liked the dome of the club.
Jose Castro, José María del Nido Carrasco and Víctor Orta returned on Monday night from Madrid without making statements at the Santa Justa station. The club’s top management and the sporting director held several meetings with different agents to find the chosen one, with great silence and after receiving some refusals.
One of the most talked about is that of Marcelino García Toral, who demanded a stable project that Sevilla cannot offer him right now. Also, Javi Gracia said no and the differences with the Argentine Marcelo Gallardo are very important in the economic and also in duration of the contract.
Therefore, as announced by ‘Relevo’, Orta’s favorite is Diego Alonso, a 48-year-old coach who led the Uruguay team in the last World Cup in Qatar. Alonso would face his first experience in Europe after training in Mexico (Pachuca and Monterrey) and USA (Inter Miami).
In the last hours Quique Sánchez Flores had won whole and another option that Victor Orta liked is the Austrian Oliver Gasler, former coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, although the drawback is the language.
The league break gives some leeway to the leaders of Sevilla, who nevertheless do not want to delay the hiring of Mendilibar’s substitute. The idea is that the new coach will lead the session on Tuesday.
